Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Business Application Blueprintsis written by Mike Oryszak, and  highlights details on building SharePoint solutions based on real-life scenarios that you will encounter within your own organization or at your customers. These scenarios range from building an engaging community site to building a site directory with SharePoint search. It is written in an easy-to-understand style and is targeted at SharePoint developers, consultants, and administrators who want to
build a range of SharePoint solutions that extend the SharePoint platform, and see how to apply the many available SharePoint features in different business scenarios.

Chapter outline:

  • Chapter 1, Building an Effective Intranet: An Effective Intranet Site for your  organization that maximizes the site's ability to aggregate content and is highly effective at communicating important messages.
  • Chapter 2, Building an Out of Office Delegation Solution: A Workflow Out of Office Solution that allows users to manage their out of office dates and automate task assignments to a delegated resource.
  • Chapter 3, Building an Enterprise Content Management Solution: An Enterprise Content Management solution designed to support large scale document repositories with
the ability to route documents automatically between site collections based on metadata attributes along with custom solutions for surfacing the relevant content.

We've got heaps of sites now as part of our teamsite collaboration application.

The top level navigation just isn't cutting it.

A search based site directory solution should ideal.

That's why I'd love to win this book.

I personally feel it will be good book and useful to us as we are in the process of migrating 2007 to 2010 and this book may help us setup best practices for better collaboration and automating most parts of the intranet site like delegation while OOTO, automatic site provisioning and project managment. Would like to have this book.

Why I want this book ?
Every day I am busy trying to deliver value for my customers and let their knowledge of the platform grow.

This means I have to stay on top of the information. Creating business applications is so very important when you are working with SharePoint (so much more then just storing your office documents) but still a tricky task to do.

A good book to provide blueprints would be very helpful, not only for myself, but to lend out to customers for creativity and plain solutions.

So that is why I would want to win the book, to give myself more insight and to help my customers gain insight in what they can develop in order to take next steps in the 21st century way-of-working.

Just curious to see if we implemented some of our solutions the right way (= as described in this book..)

Wow this is exactly the book I need - practical application rather than technical wizardary. The business often don't know what SharePoint is capable of and therefore tend to think of it as nothing more than a fileshare replacement. I can use this book to show them what they could have and then quickly make it happen - that should get the ball rolling to start exploiting more of the dormant potential.
